Ok, so I'll be running Catacombs client with no other programs going. I have 1 gig of pc100 ram and a 2.3Ghz processor. My video card is an Nvidia Geforce 4 4400.
Issue:
I will be on auto run or auto follow (or just running for that matter) and my screen will freeze for a second or two. This usually only happens in outdoor zones, but sometimes in dungeons when im running past mobs or other players.
Any ideas?

Just FYI, I personally am under the impression that DAOC runs better on ATI video chips than nVidia
Now in response to your question: when your screen freezes for a second or two, I believe it is because the texture of the scenery around you refining itself - this is because they enter your "radius bubble" - a set radius around your character where things become clearer. Things in very far distance are not highly refined because if they were, you would lag more than you already do - it's very taxing on most video cards.
In other words, if you are in NF and look far far away, you see trees, but if you pay close attention they are not as detailed as a tree next to you. Your video chip needs to take a second to be able to keep up with the refining of the scenery around you~

Could be a level of detail thing like Molukai describes or just general lag of loading new skins (like when enemy players or new mobs first enter visual range). I haven't found it all that useful in the past, but you can try fiddling with the settings for pre-caching armor skins in the game settings (from the character select screen). Really though, I'm only replying to applaud the little clip of Dante schooling the Broncos I've seen it elsewhere but not from a guildie. You a fan? I was born and raised in KC and am a huge Chiefs fan even though I live in Seattle now. I'm sporting one of my Chief's shirts right now as it's Red Friday. Anyway, I like the clip. G'luck with your lag. (Oh, one more thing, you might try defragmenting your game drive. That could help a little.)

I'm from Texas and used to watch Dante in college. And yeah, he owns it up, best open-field runner in the league IMO.
And the lag issues shouldnt be a problem as soon as X-mas hits, getting an entirely new system.
