I made a thread about the sequel that they *might* make of ff7 you might wanna check that. Yes I am an incredible fan of FF7. So much so that I don'T consider it as part of the franchise anymore I mean movies, action figures, plushy's and ACTUAL orchestral sound track complete with choir? This has moved beyond FF. ---------
The word Sephiroth is a derivation of the Sepher-Ra which is the tree of life in a particular sect of Judaism. Tha language is 'Yiddish'
Jews that follow this beleif, beleive that within the original bible (the one written in hebrew that's 2000 years old) 'GOD' is spellt and said in 10 different ways/variations depending on what he was doing during the passage. (it actually is spellt in 10-11 different versions in the original bible)
If god was smitting something/someone he was called so-and-so If god was creating something/someone he was called by a different name.
Because of this 'oddity' in the bible they associated each spelling of the word 'God' as a part of his personnality that was written down in the bible as it is. The tree of life is thus a singular being 'god' with all his aspects 'names' being his branches. But still being a part of the whole.
I think it was real interesting that the game developers chose such an appropriate name for the main villain 'who' from the northern crater controlled different clones of himself to complete different tasks.
Cloud is just one of these. As is Kadaj, Lazoo and whatshisface in advent children. All 'BRANCHES' of the same whole.

FF7 has so much depth and symbolism imbeded in it that I could go hours just talking about the different aspects. Meanings of people names etc....
EX. Vincent's name means in latin: Fierce Warrior Valentine of course is easy to know the meaning of We get this: Fierce loving warrior Kinda ironic isn't it? --- I could go on and on.....
There's actual representations of the 4 old minor tarot card sets:
The sword, the staff, the cup and the dime Cloud's wpn, Aeris' wpn, Cait Sith's wpn and Yuffie's shurinkens
There's also alot of norse mythology imbeded within it: Midgar, Nibelheim, Odin , Zolom (that big snake in the swamp section you have to pass by chobobo at the beggingin after you've left Midgar) etc... --- What else ?.... Well each character has his/her own unique story... which is real rare in a game since they usually only develop a few side-characters story in games... since it takes alot of production time to do so. I think that's why FF7 is such a great game in that it has so much work put into it to make it as good as it is.

Ok yeah, that was really cool. Seriously I didn't know that. What wierds people out is that I research music and storyline. Everybody else only cares about graphics and being the strongest. You just explained something I didn't know.
Though what I thought when I played the game was that Sephiroth was summoning clones for ::Reunion::, in a society known as a gathering of spiritual bodies in the creation of a whole, he was summoning his clones in Reunion for the rebirth of his own person so that he can "Travel the Cosmos with this Earth as his vessel."
Wow that really shows how little I know, lol. ;D
