As many of you probably know, I'm making a portal site with many sections (with link to this forum of course)
It will have:
-Event's sections (Planned events and past events+screenshots) -Member profile section (For Lords, Captains and possibly the most participating Archons) -Links section (interesting sites inc: Penny arcade and many webcomics) -Forum section (To our own forum) -Tips & guide section (class guides, power leveling and gold-getting)
THE GOAL: -Try to ferret participation out of our more reticent members by making a fun and interesting site that they would check often and get up-to-date with news and events posted on it
****
I would like to have your comments on what you would like to see on the site.
I'm also considering making a small webcomic that I would post every 1-2 weeks that would ensite people to check once in a while.

I have music on the home page too... it's something soothing and very divinity like (not too annoying either)
I was wondering about any interactive things we could put on it.

you can put up a "medal" system for various achievements, such as leading a guild event, etc

That's a nice idea. Maybe I could put it in the members' section though. Like a little image of a medal.

I'd like to have the site ready and up by mid-Feb... so the more people comment the cooler it'll be before launch.
Presently I only see Xavi, Molukai, Jox and gringo regularly posting on the forum.... which is sad since we have so many members that aren't actively posting or checking this forum at all.

Mol, I think you should 'force' them to sign up and check forum regularly.. Your current method right now(post it on the guild message of the day) is not working, so I guess you have to talk to them personally(/w them one by one), and of course, if you need help, just let me know and I'll help ya.

It's not just a matter of forcing them to sign in the forum... They have to *want* to come back here.
THere's presently (in my opinion) no real reason in their minds to actually check regularly and post here.
Reason #1 The forum is shared between Everquest, Darkage of camelot and many other chapters of Divinity. Because we have such a little section called: WoW-general, trade, event. The forum seems meaningless to many
Reason #2 No clear and regular postings of interest... There's not that many conversations that include everyone and that are actually worth for many of the other members to post on.
Reason #3 It's kind of a plain white/black/blue forum that's not really organised (no offence Mol)
----->We need! An invigorating site that's updated regularly and has subjects of interest with a link to the forum (this one, or a new one).
To re-organise the sign-up prerequisite for guild members. (I'm sure Mol has a hard time keeping track of who has signed up or not)
To plan events much more in advance and regularly on specific days instead of only 2-3 days in advance and on times when some members can't play due to school or work. (Ex: Raiding Thrusday evenings. Raids are always posted Fridays for the next weeks) ---------- Something along those lines would seriously help. -------------------------- PS BTW Molukai I sent you an email with the site's coords and passwords.

I don't think it's the forum at all, proof of this lays with past experience. As far as posting of interest - there is the EVENTS. Ultimately, the problem lay with the fact that there isn't enough regular posters to build up the base.

So there was a Divinity site before? Or is it from past experience with other games?.
Maybe we should have an incentive such as a lottery or game of some sort only accessible if they visit the site/forum more often.
I've seen competitions where the webdesigners hide a small logo somewhere within the site. There where prizes to be won for those who messaged and found it.
Something along those lines might encite ppl to participate more.

Not for WoW. But I was referring to the forums in specific - look at the Divinity DAOC chapter for example. When I led the chapter we had a ton of posting there -- not so much anymore, though.

Did you take a look at the site that I built though Mol? I sent you the passward and stuff by mail.
If you could help me build it or just edit stuff out/in. That'd be appreciated.
Between both of our busy persons we might actually be able to finnish it by Feb.
